The Collaborative Effort Behind the Latest E-Paper Device: DPT rp2
In 2017, Sony semiconductors, Japan, and e ink holdings Taiwan created a joint venture to collaborate on various matters, including the release of e-paper devices. Together, they established the foundation for this project. However, before they could proceed, they needed to find a company to manufacture the device shells, which led them to Lymphony Japan. Lymphony had previous experience in creating shells for Fujitsu, Alteric Note, and other similar devices.
Finding a Company to Release the Devices
With the shells ready, the next step was to find a company that could effectively launch the new devices. Sony had closed down its operations in both the east and west coasts of the USA, and although their Japan operations still had a line of e-paper devices, they were not in the spotlight at the time. Therefore, they turned to a Taiwanese company called Read Moo to handle the release of their devices.
Introducing the DPT rp2
Now that all the necessary components were in place, it’s time to delve into the unit itself: the DPT rp2, also known as the Moo Inc Pro 13.3. Upon examining the construction of the unit, it is relatively unchanged from its predecessor, the rp1, with a few subtle differences. It now runs on USB-C, has a new backing, and uses Wacom technology, allowing users to utilize any pen on the market, from Mitsubishi to Stadler and everything in between. Moreover, the device boasts improved specs across the board, including more RAM, a quad-core processor, and 128GB of onboard storage.
The Collective Effort Behind the DPT rp2
It’s astounding to think that it took the collaborative efforts of four separate companies to bring the DPT rp2 to life. After all, this device represents the culmination of their combined expertise and resources.
Pens Galore
One of the standout features of the DPT rp2 is its compatibility with various pens. The unit comes with a base Wacom pen, but the beauty of this device lies in its ability to work with any pen under the sun. Over the years, we have accumulated a collection of pens, and this device allows us to make full use of them.
The DPT rp2 is not just a product of one company’s efforts, but rather the outcome of a collaborative endeavor between Sony, e ink holdings, Lymphony Japan, and Read Moo. With its upgraded specifications and pen compatibility, this device represents a significant advancement in the field of e-paper technology.
