Samsung Kids Tablet Review – 2023
Overview
In this review, we will be discussing the Samsung Kids Tablet, a product that caught our attention due to its attractive design and positive reviews. However, upon exploring its functionality, we encountered numerous issues that made it difficult for us to use the tablet effectively. While we understand the challenges faced in creating technology and software, we believe it is important to provide an honest assessment of our experience with this product.
Performance and User Experience
Unfortunately, the Samsung Kids Tablet did not meet our expectations in terms of performance and user experience. Despite its promising appearance, the tablet proved to be frustratingly slow in almost every aspect. From opening apps to loading web pages, we found ourselves constantly waiting for tasks to be completed, which greatly impacted our overall user experience.
Design and Appearance
The Samsung Kids Tablet boasts a sleek and appealing design. Upon unboxing, we were greeted by an ordinary-looking Android tablet with a prominently displayed Samsung Kids logo. The tablet’s physical appearance is undoubtedly one of its strong points, as it is visually appealing and likely to attract the attention of young users.
Value for Money
Priced at around $150 on Amazon, the Samsung Kids Tablet may seem like a reasonable investment. However, considering the issues we encountered with its performance, we question whether it provides good value for money. While aesthetics and brand reputation are important factors, functionality and usability should not be compromised.
The Samsung Kids Tablet: A Review – 2023
Setup and Initial Impressions
Upon receiving the Samsung Kids Tablet, we were immediately drawn to its friendly design and child-friendly features. However, during the setup process, we discovered that it initially appeared as an ordinary Android tablet and required logging into Google. Unfortunately, the tablet’s slow responsiveness made navigating through this process quite challenging.
The Tedious Update Process
In the midst of our review, we encountered an unexpected hurdle – a seemingly unending update process. As we thought the tablet update was complete, a perplexing message appeared: “Updating three of two jillion optimizing.” This unexpected delay forced us to wait for approximately 40 minutes before further proceeding with our review.
Introducing Goalie: The App for Practical Life Skills
While waiting for the update to finish, we took the opportunity to explore other options that catered to teaching kids practical life skills. One impressive platform we came across was Goalie. Goalie offers a wide range of video classes that teach children essential life skills such as dressing themselves, preparing food, and even social interactions, including introductions. Additionally, they provide various apps that allow young users to practice these skills in a safe and interactive manner.
The Upside: A Cool and Engaging Case
Amidst the challenges we faced during the review process, there was one aspect of the Samsung Kids Tablet that impressed us – the case. Its design was appealing, and the material felt pleasant to the touch. It immediately instilled a desire to play and interact with the tablet, despite the initial setbacks.
Please note that this article is not a comprehensive review of the Samsung Kids Tablet but rather highlights some notable aspects that we encountered during our experience.
Samsung Kids Tablet Review – 2023
Design and Build
The Samsung Kids Tablet is an interesting device that can be compared to a fidget toy. It provides a great tactile experience, perfect for those who need something to fidget with. However, with a price tag of $150, it might not be worth purchasing solely as a fidget toy.
One concern I had with this tablet is the durability of its bracket. I couldn’t figure out how to remove it without potentially breaking it. With a screwdriver in hand, I cautiously attempted to detach the bracket. After some trial and error, success! Thankfully, I didn’t break it. This experience, though, made me realize that using the tablet can sometimes be more challenging than necessary.
User Experience
Once you have successfully logged in and set up everything, you will find a button labeled “Samsung Kids” at the center of the screen. This button should be the starting point for launching the Samsung Kids interface. However, I noticed that pressing the button doesn’t always yield immediate results. Sometimes nothing happens, and sometimes it takes a while for anything to happen.
Navigating through the interface, I found it to be similar to the Play Store. It provides access to a wide range of apps and games suitable for children. The selection is quite diverse and offers entertainment and educational content for kids of different ages.
Performance and Functionality
The Samsung Kids Tablet offers satisfactory performance for everyday tasks. It handles basic apps, games, and media consumption fairly well. However, I did encounter occasional lag and delays, which can be frustrating at times.
One notable drawback of this tablet is the difficulty in opening it without a screwdriver. As an adult, I struggled to open it, and I imagine it would be even more challenging for a child. In my opinion, this design flaw undermines the purpose of creating a kid-friendly device.

App Store Issues
You know some app store and it’s telling me to update the app so I hit update another update before I have proof of this. It was showing me errors. I was trying to do it on the sofa and I kept getting errors and errors and errors.
Alternative App
So then I found another app and that one did work, and I guess this one’s updating now. So I have no clue, but I spent like 20 minutes just figuring.
Unavailability of Samsung Kids App
This out update boom that’s. The error I was getting doesn’t even make any sense the content isn’t available in the Galaxy store. So why is the Samsung kids app unavailable in you know this thing it doesn’t even make sense. I bought it as a kid app, so I Google around I look for something and I find there’s a different Samsung. Kids app look it’s got a different logo, it’s not even installed on this tablet.
Performance and Parental Controls
So I click on that and then it kind of opens up this App Store where the apps are free and there are some parental controls, the parental controls are kind of basic, but my biggest issue is this thing: is so slow it’s really hard to actually play games. And that’s all these are is just games, everything is so unresponsive.
Optimization Issues
I think I know why it’s unresponsive, we make software. You have to really optimize things for low-powered devices and if you don’t spend the time as a software shop to optimize apps for low-powered Android devices you’re going to get this experience where you click on something and nothing happens, so you click on it.

Interface and Design
Upon first glance, the Samsung Kids Tablet boasts a beautiful interface that catches the eye. The design is sleek and aesthetically pleasing, promising an enjoyable user experience. However, the initial positive impression soon fades as one tries to navigate through the tablet’s functions.
Performance and Functionality
Regrettably, the Samsung Kids Tablet fails to deliver on its promised performance. Numerous users have reported experiencing frequent crashes and freezing issues while using the device. This not only interrupts the flow of activities but also leaves users questioning the tablet’s reliability.
Educational Value
Despite the attractive design, the games and applications on the Samsung Kids Tablet lack the educational engagement that one might expect from a device specifically targeted towards children. The limited complexity of these activities hampers the tablet’s potential to serve as a valuable educational tool.
Comparisons to Past Tech Products
Reflecting on past experiences with similar tech products, it becomes apparent that the Samsung Kids Tablet falls short in terms of functionality and overall user satisfaction. It brings to mind the frustrating days of purchasing PCs in the 2000s, particularly from a certain well-known company featuring cows on their packagingGateway Computers. Like those PCs, the tablet initially shows promise but ultimately fails to deliver on expectations.
Poor Design and Oversight
It is disheartening to see a product from Samsung, a renowned giant in the technology industry, perform so inadequately. It suggests that the development process may have been disjointed, possibly due to teams worldwide working independently without effective communication. The lack of oversight and coordination has resulted in a product that simply does not come together as it should.

Safety and Distraction
Parents often purchase kids’ tablets for their children for two main reasons: safety and distraction. It is important for parents to protect their children from potentially harmful content on the internet. Having a tablet that provides controlled access to age-appropriate apps and websites can give parents peace of mind. Additionally, kids’ tablets can serve as a source of entertainment, keeping children occupied while parents attend to other tasks, such as cooking dinner.
The Goalie Tablet
The Goalie tablet, not featuring the Samsung logo, but instead sporting the Goalie logo, offers a seamless and hassle-free user experience. With a quick login process and easy device setup, parents can have everything ready to go in no time. The tablet can be controlled through the parent app, giving parents complete authority over what appears on their child’s device. Priced similarly to other kids’ tablets, the Goalie tablet can be purchased on getgoal.com.
Entertainment Device vs. Educational Device
When it comes to selecting a tablet for children, parents need to consider their priorities. If the main goal is entertainment and distraction, the Kindle Fire is a highly recommended device. It provides a wide range of entertainment options and keeps children engaged. On the other hand, if the focus is on education, the Goalie tablet is a better choice. It offers numerous educational apps and features that can enhance a child’s learning experience.
Who is the Goalie Tablet for?
The question arises: who is the Goalie tablet designed for? It is difficult to say. It may not appeal to everyone, including myself and possibly not to you, the reader. However, if you are intrigued and wish to purchase one, we have included a link below for your convenience. Ultimately, the preference for a kids’ tablet depends on individual needs and priorities.

Conclusion
In conclusion, we regret to say that the Samsung Kids Tablet did not live up to our expectations. Despite its attractive design, the tablet’s slow performance and lackluster user experience left much to be desired. As a company that also creates technology and software, we understand the challenges involved, which is why we approach reviewing competitors’ products with a fair and unbiased perspective. Unfortunately, this particular product fell short of providing an enjoyable and efficient user experience.
The Samsung Kids Tablet provides a unique fidget toy-like experience, making it a great option for those who enjoy tactile stimulation. However, with its high price and some design and usability issues, it may not be the most practical choice for everyone. If you are considering this tablet for your child, it is important to weigh the pros and cons and decide if it suits your specific needs and preferences.
In conclusion, the Samsung Kids Tablet falls short of expectations on multiple fronts. Despite its attractive design, the device’s performance is riddled with frequent crashes and freezing, leaving users frustrated and disappointed. Moreover, the educational value of the pre-loaded games and applications is lacking, further diminishing the appeal of the tablet. Considering Samsung’s reputation for producing innovative technology, it is disconcerting to witness such a subpar product from the company.
