I do want to point out that this is a premium hardware wallet, so the price is typically higher than most other hardware wallets that you will come across, but it does have the features that will back it up. The second point i want to make is this is fundamentally different than some of the other hardware wallets in terms of its design in terms of its security, and one of the key features that i’m going to point out. As we talk about the unboxing is its ability to set up and be secure with multiple signatures and multiple authentication or multi factor authentication, so that a recovery seed is not needed in order to keep this device secure, which is again very different and very big. In terms of the way that they operate and the way that they handle the device we’re going to cover certain features, such as the ability to have a second person that will allow you to give the device for inheritance purposes and we’re going to talk about. Some of those features right now, but i did want to point that out prior to diving in so that it makes a little more sense as we go so let’s go right in all right guys. Welcome back. So i wanted to give sort of an over the shoulder shot, as i did the unboxing and kind of talk my way through what my first impressions are and what the components of the device are before i flip the box.

I want to point out that this is one of the upgraded founder editions, meaning the first 1000 devices are numbered and provided in a collector’s case, and this is not the normal standard kivo. Now the standard kivo one device goes currently for 299 dolarów, there’s a link down below in the description, and there may be additional discounts if you use it it’s up to you, the founders edition, the one that we’re about to see here is ‘9 dollars, u.s right Now and again, link below if this is something that you’re interested in. I just want to point out that the presentation and the quality of the box is very good now to a lot of people that doesn’t matter, but again the type of thought and detail and quality that’s put into the box and the outer shell itself and how It’S presented is an indication of how high quality to me that the device inside is going to be. I just wanted to point that out and in my experience with several hardware wallets that i personally use as we pull this off here. It looks like it has a very interesting sort of case. This appears to be the collector’s edition case i’m, going to peel off some of the plastic here. Underneath here looks like we have the welcome booklet and it includes a card, and it includes some of the basic get started and going to the desktop app. So this does run on a desktop app and it also is bluetooth and air.

Gapped and we’ll go into details on that as well, but this essentially just allows you to connect it to initially set it up with the desktop app and instructions to do that, and as i pull this open, wow very high quality device. Very nice padding, jak widać tutaj, this is kivo model, one uh 363 poza 1000, very excellent. Teraz, what we have here is a 2.8 inch lcd display and on the left here we have a thumb, print authentication or a biometric authentication sensor and i’m going to go ahead and peel off the plastic here and very well done very high quality here. The device appears to be stainless. Steel has a qr code on the back, it’s very thin, and it has a usbc adapter. It looks like right here and on here is where the what’s known as carbon key is and i’ll explain that in just a second. But looking at the device by itself, it feels very durable, very high quality and, Jak widać, it’s powering on and it’s asking me to connect in order to charge the device and to initialize it. So i’ll do that in a follow up. Video and i’ll. Also be doing some comparisons with this wallet versus some of the other hardware wallets that i use on a regular basis so i’m going to set that down for a second looking at this right here, underneath they have the carbon key.

So the carbon key is a detached or air gap device that stores one of the secure element chips. This device is supported by a dual architecture system, so it has security, element, chips and mcu’s on both the carbon key, which is fully magnetized. Jak widać tutaj, as well as the device itself, and the way that this is done, is that the private keys are not actually stored on either the carbon key or the device itself. The way that it’s done is every time a transaction is initiated. It creates a private key by itself, so that’s very unique in a very interesting way about doing this. But one of the other things that i really wanted to point out about this device before i jump into the rest of the unbox is that this is a inherently built in with multiple factors and multiple authentication or multiple signatures in order to authorize or sign a Transaction now there’s four different authentication methods that you need in order to authorize the device, and you need three out of those four in order to sign a transaction number. One is the device itself so again when you’re dealing with a hardware wallet device, the device itself. Obviously is an important factor and keeping it secure inherently of itself is important. The second thing that is considered here is the pin code. Now we don’t see that here obviously is my first time unboxing it, but the pin code is four to eight digits that you set yourself and obviously you or anyone that you tell are the only people that know that the third factor is your thumbprint.

Teraz znowu, if you decide you want to share this device with a loved one or if you want to pass it along to someone, if you were to pass away and we’ll touch on that in a second, then that is the third factor or the third authentication And then the fourth authentication here is the carbon key and again this is the replacement to the recovery seed, backup where you typically see 12 do 24 words on the device. So i just wanted to point that out that this right here is essentially your recovery, Nasion, backup and it’s required in order to sign and authenticate now again, if the carbon key itself is not here, you can still sign a transaction without it. jednak, this is sort of your backup to the device if you lose the device or break the device, but you still have your carbon key you’ll still be okay and you will be able to restore your funds in the event of a catastrophe. Music now. Another element that i wanted to talk about before i finish unboxing is that they have a industry first inheritance system that they’ve teamed up with iron mountain and the way that this works is there’s, a service that’s optional. That allows you to send off this carbon key and send it to be held in a custodian service where it will be locked away in a very secure vault, and you can leave not only the carbon key.

But you can also leave your other information, such as your pin and you can pre program, multiple thumb, prints, etc on the device itself, and you can allocate that to someone to take over your crypto. If you were to pass away and that’s an optional service and i’ll go more into depth in that in a future video but it’s just very interesting and unique, because there is no other hardware wallet service provider that allows you to do that, or at least has A system built in inherently for that so that’s very interesting on the other items in the box. Here it looks like it’s a very high quality um, very durable from what i can tell here is a usb a to usb c cable that appears to be braided. Now to initialize and set up the device, as you can see here on the screen, i do need to connect it and set it up with the desktop app as far as portfolio management and as far as actually authenticating the device and making a transaction. I will demonstrate that in a future video, but there will be a qr code on this large touch screen for not only management but for signing qr codes and also generating that. So i can send it from my phone onto the device as well and have it air gapped in terms of it securing and signing that, but this is also a usbc connected device for management online, as well as charging.

Jak widać, the battery appears to be dying on me. I will go into depth as far as to how this works in a future video, but just right off the bat. This is very cool. My first impressions are: this is again a very high quality device, it’s very different, the fact that they have multiple factors and multiple signatures built right in to the device itself, especially with this recovery seedless carbon key again, i can’t wait to test this and actually use It and put some crypto and actually sign and send and receive transactions on this device, ale do tej pory, i’m very impressed by the quality by the tooling. No expense was spared in terms of the material quality uh. The screen is supposed to be a full touch screen and i will be testing that and utilizing that in the future, as well as well as the thumbprint authenticator, which will allow you to have multiple people’s thumb prints on there and one of the last things that I do want to talk about here, or at least cover obviously is going to be the coin support. Now i want to preface this that saying that, with most new hardware wallet devices that coin support at launch is limited because they want to get the device out there. They want to work out any sort of bugs and then they typically add new features like new coins staking support and so on. To that end, i want to clarify that this device, currently as of shooting this video and as of launch, only supports bitcoin bitcoin cash.

Bitcoin sv and ethereum. Now i need clarification, whether or not that includes all erc20 tokens, but according to the website and the information that i have offhand, this device only supports those four coins currently so be advised of that, and you can continue to check the link down below in the Description at any given time when you see this video to clarify current coin support, so i just wanted to make sure that that was covered in this video as well. As i touched on a lot of the physical features and support. This is fantastic as far as i can tell i’m very impressed with the quality, and i cannot wait to show you guys some future hardware wallet comparisons, comparing this and the pros and cons of this to other hardware wallets on the market.
