Although it was a great looking device, it was hampered by the processor that was inside it. It was running the y series processor and it really wasn’t optimized for performance and of course it could have done better so fast forward. A couple of years i received this from hp now this has a full leather design, it’s, not real leather, but it is super premium. It has a really beautiful design, love the stitching on it and it really is a super premium thin and light ultra portable it’s. Very similar in a lot of ways from the spectre folio that we took a look at but it’s better in a lot of other ways, we’re going to get into it. Now: hey everybody it’s andrew – and this is my unboxing and first look at the hp elite. Folio new for 2021 coming up Music now, as we take a look at the specs in the interest of transparency and full disclosure i’m not being paid by hp i’m, not being sponsored by hp. All the opinions you’re about to hear are my own hp is not getting copy approval they’re, seeing this video for the first time, just like you, this review unit was provided by hp and once this review was done, i’ll be sending it back. Pricing starts at 1786.88 for those interested i’ll put the link in the description below for more information and where you can buy one. This is a premium stylish leather device that you’re not going to see anywhere else we’ll get into that now.

The hp elite folio is running windows 10 on arm. That means it’s powered by the qualcomm snapdragon 8cx gen2, with 16 gigabytes of lp ddr4 x, ram 512 gigabytes of ssd storage has great durability with its mil standard 810 h rating and has a beautiful 13.5 inch. 3 to 2 touch display we’ll, get into that and more coming up in this video and with specs and pricing. Out of the way let’s find out what you get inside the box, let’s open it up now inside the outer box is an inner box that contains the unit itself, lifting that lid you’ll find the unit itself will get to that in just a little bit and Notice the instructional diagram on the lid and you also get a usbc power adapter with the extension cord. You also get the tip remover tool with some extra tips for the pen. You get a setup guide, along with some warranty information Applause holding the unit for the first time. My first reaction is wow. This thing is super premium with this faux leather design. Now this is not real leather, like we got with the spectre folio they’re, calling this vegan leather, despite the fact that it’s not plant based but rather is polyurethane. It looks like hp paid a lot of attention to detail and it shows with the nice stitching on it as well, and it feels really nice in the hands. It really has a very premium look and feel i can’t get over that that’s, how good it looks, and at 2.

92 pounds of 1.32 kilograms definitely portable to take with you on the go. After all, this is a portable device for the really high end business traveler. Okay, you’re not going to get a lot of port selection on this, but what you do get are two usbc 3.2 ports that do data charge and display out, and they did confirm with hp that these are gen 1 ports, meaning they’re capable of up to 10 Gigabits per second – and i like the fact that they’re on opposite sides of each other, and you also get a 3.5 millimeter audio combo jack there’s, no usba port and there’s no sd card slot, either so that’s a little bit of a disappointment on that end. But of course this is super thin and it is a portable device. Now you can customize this with optional 5g, but hp sent over the version with the 4g lte and the sim slot is located where the pen slot is for those wondering. Yes, you can open the lid with one finger now, taking a look you’ll notice that it has a slot for the pen, and that is the same type of implementation that we saw with the surface pro x, store and charge the pen in a great place. It’S convenient and i like this implementation and speaking of the pen, it used the wacom aes 2.0 technology with 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity, and it supports fast charge. That means for thirty minutes, you’ll get a full charge and that’s really good, especially when you need to take notes or sketch out artwork now, unlike other two in ones, words have a detachable or a convertible design.

This is a pull forward design. This is very similar to the acer concept d that i recently took a look at as well as the spectre folio from a couple of years ago. It has an easel mode that allows you to do digital artwork as well as put it into the tablet mode. For use as a tablet with the pen and when you’re using it as a tablet. Yes, it is a little bit heavy when you think about it close to three pounds, although it is pretty good on a desk and it does have a nice little handle on the side, as you see here, holding it as a tablet. A nice little touch now. My review unit has 16 gigabytes of lp ddr4 x ram. Now that ram is soldered into the motherboard, you won’t be able to upgrade that, but you can upgrade the ssd. Although hp doesn’t really recommend you going inside this laptop, but those that are adventurous enough to try it, there is a video put out by hp on how to service the parts on the hp, folio elite. A link will be in the description below and here you can see, the ssd is user replaceable, as i mentioned. So if you want to expand out the storage, you have that option if you’re willing to try to go inside this laptop – and here are the reads and writes for the included ssd, and this is what the elite folios internals look like for those wondering.

Okay, let’s talk about that display and what we’re looking at here is a 13.5 inch wux, g8 plus display with a resolution of 1920×1280. Yes, that means this does have a three to two aspect ratio and if you watched any of my videos, you know that i, like the three to two aspect ratio, because you’ll do less scrolling when it comes to web browsing you’ll also see more on the display. That’Ll be better for productivity work as well, and with that three to two aspect ratio you will notice the black bars on the top and the bottom when consuming media watching netflix, amazon and youtube, which are optimized for a 16 to 9. Viewing experience you’ll notice, those black bars on the 3 to 2 display not a big deal now as far as consuming media. It is definitely great for watching movies on it. Netflix, amazon and youtube have been a pleasure so far and at 400 nits. This is a bright display, good for both indoor and outdoor use, although it is a glossy display, so you will notice reflections and glare in direct sunlight and they’ve only had this for about 24 hours. So i need to do further. Testing and i’ll bring you all the numbers regarding the display coming up in my full review, but so far i’m really loving the display. So this is the front facing camera on the brand new hp elite folio here for 2021 it’s, a 720p 30 frames per second webcam there’s, a shutter switch it’s a uh.

Is it good for skype? Is it good for zoom? Let me know in the comment section below how’s the video quality. How is the audio out of the mics? I want to know. Let me know in the comment section below and it’s also an infrared camera. That means you can log in with face recognition with windows. Hello, it worked fast and it worked well now. This keyboard has been awesome. So far now they’ve borrowed the keyboard from the 1000 series in their elitebook line, and it shows it’s got 1.3 millimeters of key travel, which is really great for touch typing and you didn’t feel, like your fingers, will bottom out there’s good tactile feedback, one of the Best keyboards i’ve used in a long time, especially on a really portable device. They’Ve done an outstanding job here now it does have a multi stage backlight, which allows you to get work done in a dark room in a dimly, lit environment, and it worked really well and they found that the precision touch pad was really responsive. Two finger scrolling was really buttery smooth and all the gestures work as you’d expect. Now the audio has been awesome on this. Another big surprise from hp here with the quad speakers on this they’re loud nice mids, really nice bass on it. I was really surprised at how good the audio experience has been on the elite folio. Now when it comes to performance, i think we need to tamper our expectations.

After all, this is running windows, 10 and arm and it’s powered by the qualcomm snapdragon 8cx gen 2.. Now performance has been surprisingly good for a portable device. You’Ll definitely be able to do your web browsing on it. You’Ll definitely be able to do your productivity work, microsoft, office, email, it all worked well now. Don’T expect to do aaa gaming on this, of course, and you’re not going to be doing any high end 4k video editing, that’s, just not what this is designed to do. This is more of a travel device, a companion device for the high end business traveler, and i think this definitely brings some style and it also brings some decent performance with this updated chipset now i’ll be doing further testing and bring you some numbers in my full Review so so far, it’s looking good. Now you might be asking yourself well what’s the benefit of the snapdragon 8cx gen 2. It has awesome battery life. In fact, hp is claiming over 20 hours on a single charge and i’m actually seeing phenomenal off the charts battery life. So far in my initial testing, of course, i’ve only had it for about 24 hours and i still have not have to charge it battery life. So far is looking pretty phenomenal. Okay, let’s wrap it all up. What do i think about the hp elite folio here for 20 21 24 hours in? I am absolutely loving this portable device. I am constantly grabbing it so far, because i really love this style.

I love this pull forward design. This thing is pretty innovative in that sense. Now, of course, it’s not going to do blazingly fast performance with that snapdragon 8cx gen2 and there will be compatibility issues with 64 bit apps, although you can become part of the windows insider program to get that 64 bit support. But, of course, that eventually will be coming to everybody later on, but having said that, this is a phenomenal travel device for the executive on the go. This will give you phenomenal battery life. In fact, i’m seeing off the charts battery life i’ll bring you all. The numbers in my full review performance is good enough to do all the things you need to do as far as productivity work and, of course, web browsing with consuming media watching netflix, amazon and youtube. So far has been a pleasure now, although the 720p webcam wasn’t too bad, i would have definitely preferred a 1080p webcam here in 2021. This would have been the perfect device to put a really high end phenomenal webcam on it. Unfortunately, they went with the 720p. Definitely will get the job done for zoom and for skype, but so far, ladies and gentlemen, i’m, absolutely loving the hp elite folio and i can’t wait to put it through its paces to bring you my full review coming very soon. So what do you think about this bad boy? The elite folio, absolutely loving! This design i’ve been grabbing this every chance, i’ve been getting so far with this i know i’ve only had it for 24 hours, but i’ve been.

This has been by my side ever since this arrived in the studio, and that speaks volumes. I like the fact that it has the 4g lte. You can get this with the optional 5g, as i mentioned, although this one has the 4g working well with my google phi sim, and i love being able to take this on the road being able to have secure connections everywhere. I go that’s a great feature to have, especially for a business traveler. Now as far as the performance with that snapdragon 8cx2, i still have to put it through its paces. So far, it’s done everything i’ve needed it to do. Productivity work, microsoft, office, email, web, browsing. All handled with the breeze, like the three to two aspect: ratio of that display love the pull forward feature, as i showed you in the video great versatility with this two in one it’s, not cheap at about 1700 or so dollars, and it goes up from there. But this is a premium stylish laptop for the executive on the go but i’m curious to know what you think. Let me know in the comment section below so please hit the like button. Please subscribe.
