If youre going to be considering this machine, it has a core i5 8 gigs of ram and a 512 gig ssd, a full hd display, which is your only display option. Well, talk about the display in detail a bit later and thats 7.99, so you get a premium aluminum sandblasted chassis, its available in a kind of grayish, brownish color, or the moss green color and its a staid looking laptop youre not buying this, for the flashy looks Like a spectre x360 or something like that, but it is built very well its nice and rigid and all that sort of thing so good that for the price also for the price you get thunderbolt 4 two thunderbolt 4 ports backward compatible with thunderbolt 3. Its a slightly faster evolution of thunderball 3, but usually you have to spend a thousand dollars and up to get thunderball ports again. Then convertible so thats good too its a touchscreen display, since it is a 360 degree, hinge convertible and it also supports the lenovo active pen too, or any wacom aes active pen, so thats nice to have thats not in the box. The active pen 2 sells for 80.. You might find other aes pen protocol pens for a little bit less than that, but its there for you. If you want to take notes inside, we have intel 11th, gen cpu, so good that ultrabook cpu, quad core and intel iris, xc graphics, which was one of the bigger improvements for intel 11th gen xc graphics, are a lot faster than the old intel, uhd graphics.

We saw in ultrabooks and previous generations, though, oddly here, while the cpu does as well as some core i7s in the 11th gen, which means very good performance here. The the gpu, the integrated gpu, actually doesnt, benchmark as well and perform as well in games, which is kind of odd. Does it have to do something with the power management or what i dont know what it is were not the only ones whove seen this also. I mean ultrabooks really arent for gaming per se, but if you were intending lenovo flex 5, the flex line of laptops in terms of quality and appointments, but below the lenovo yoga 9i, which basically replaces the c940 series and that one has a sound bar for those Who really like better, sound and also comes in 14 and 15 inches like this one? We are looking at the 1400, so with the core i5. It is more money isnt. It, though, since the chassis is much like the c740. The keyboard is much like you too, which is a short travel and a little mushy, its, not my favorite keyboard, its, not unusable or anything, but youre not going to buy this for the keyboard. This is no thinkpad folks, its backlit and white, the trackpad on it behaves perfectly well and its good, so the display on this is full hd, which is fine for a 14 inch display, honestly, its ips, its glossy, not ultra glarey, though like some hp spectres are For example, again supports pen and touch, and the pen behaves pretty well on this im using a lenovo, thinkpad, pen and uh jittery lines.

Not so much really weve had pretty good slow diagonal lines, which are usually the most wavery in set a word in digital pens. So its fine for note taking and even some if hobby, art kind of work i this is not the brightest display, its only rated at 300 nits according to lenovo. We measured it at 275 nits, so this is definitely im going to use it at home. In my not wildly bright home, or something like that, if you need to use this outdoors, no pick a different laptop. Obviously the color gamut on this is pretty good, though youve got your basic full srgb coverage and a little bit better than average on p3 gamut coverage. Contrast on this is pretty decent as well, so other than that, and the color accuracy is good too other than the fact that it doesnt get that bright. This panel is pretty nice and, like all the novo panels, are labeled as len short for lenovo, something or other, but this one is made by bohitis, who makes a lot of laptop displays. Theyre two odd speakers and theyre pretty good, mid range and high end. As you would expect, for a smaller ultrabook is fine. Laptop has your usual okay, 720p webcam, but it does have a physical privacy switch right there. You slide it and see little red dots, so it blocks it. So you wont have any accidental whoopsies over zoom for security has a fingerprint scanner.

There is no windows, hello, ir camera; well, thats. How you get good battery life then, and you just have a core i5 ultrabook cpu and a not very bright full hd display theres a recipe for good battery life and doing as a 65 watt charger. Another requirement is fast charging for intel, evo certification. So you can top up about 40 of them. It has a single fan instead of two small fans and i kind of to get inside you just unscrew the torx t5 screws and you can use a guitar pick to pry it up or suction cup, to make it a little easier. There are plastic clips, but nothing that hard. Obviously we have our ventilation over here. So the underside looks like and no surprise like most all ultrabooks on the market. Ram is soldered on board. You can get either 8 or 16 gigs of ddr4 3200 megahertz ram. You cant upgrade it after the fact, so get the amount that you want. This is our m.2 ssd, so that is upgradeable and there is the slot right there. If you want, ours is a samsung and obviously the heatsink right here, and this is pretty good size fan and it does help keep the fan noise not too high. Pitched and grading, like i said and thats our intel wi fi ax 201 card. There wi fi six, your backup battery, as ever with laptops and heres the battery, which is quite large and the up firing speaker, modules, heres, the bottom side of them on each side.

Other creature comforts include an aluminum casing: thats fairly rigid a white backlit keyboard with number pad on board wi fi 6 intel flavor ax201 with bluetooth 5.0. So a pretty complete package, its available with a full hd display its ips pen and touch support and thats, probably going to find in most stores, but there is a 4k display option, but that gets pretty pricey. So this one configured pretty nicely, which is the unit we have – has an intel core: i7 10th gen, 6 core cpu, the nvidia graphics – that i mentioned 16 gigs of ram and it has a terabyte m.2, nvme ssd, full hd display. So they do have on lenovos website the super max down model with the two terabyte ssd, a core i9 eight core processor and a 4k display, but thats like 2 700 thats kind of getting up there, obviously in price, its getting more expensive than some think pads. That lenovo offers as very premium devices. The pen is handy for those of you who are harvest doing art if you want to do note, taking youre still, okay with the bigger screen ergonomically for note taking and for things like annotating pdfs. Speaking of that, let me take a look at that. You cant get simpler and more intuitive than that. It still has all the feed rate out license and not have to have a subscription model, but you can do a subscription too, if you like, so it has all the things that youd expect of a good pdf editor.

You can do things like insert images, you can insert blocks of text. You can actually add watermarks if you want to. As you can see here, im watermarking this document. You can ocr documents as well and thats a pretty neat feature and they also have batch functionality. So say you want to batch watermark or you want to batch ocr documents. You can do that too. Of course it does export to things like text. You can see us exporting it to word pretty quick, actually too html formats, you so be sure to check out the link in the description and try. The laptop is fairly portable, given that it is a 15.6 inch model, its two kilograms, which is 4.41 pounds under an inch thick and tapered, so its a little thinner at the front um, but still its not too bad for a convertible. You want something thats, not too too heavy, obviously, because you can use it in tablet mode. You want to be able to hold it in your lap, somehow tent mode, obviously presentation mode. It does all those things just fine. So who is this for its fairly powerful? It has the specs nominally of an entry level, gaming laptop even its for creative types, really who are looking for something thats good for photoshop. You have the pen that make editing easier. Maybe you are a hobby kind of artist there. It has a fairly color, accurate, full hd display that covers the full srgb spectrum, and there is that 4k option.

If you want, but given the shorter battery life and the expensive that adds on probably most people will be picking that for the yoga 9i. Its also, obviously for those who enjoy multimedia and watching movies and all that sort of fun stuff, it has the rotating sound bar, which is a lenovo nifty little feature. So it rotates. So, even if youre, using a different orientation, not standard laptop mode, youll hear the two woofers and two tweeters despite those two woofers, the bass is not really very oomphy. I expect it a little bit more. Actually, it gets really loud, thats for sure but yeah. This is not going to replace your external good speakers lets put a difference in battery life too speaking of battery life. This is a 69 watt hour battery, which is somewhere in between what you would see in a higher end, 13 inch ultrabook and what you would see in a bigger laptop, and that means that battery life is somewhere in between again, we have the full hd display In the core i7 here and if youre doing back to the display again, they claim its 500, whether you go with the 4k or the full hd we measured yeah in the upper 370s. You can see the metrics on screen there, so not quite that bright, but still for a machine of this class thats, pretty darn good, again color accuracy on the graph, as you can see, that was pretty good.

Certainly out of the factory and the color coverage is fine. The displays are hdr, 400 rated and really thats. Not that big a deal honestly just basically means it hits 400 nits of brightness and has a reasonably decent contrast ratio now ports on this. This is not so great for this class of laptop in terms of its size and the mobile workstation level kind of uh specs that we have on board. You have two thunderbolt 3 ports thats great, so those support, docks and display out all that sort of thing. One lone usb a port and a headphone jack and thats yeah for kind of largest powerful laptop. I would have liked to have seen more. Maybe this is the way of the future started by apple. I dont know but thats what it is here. If you need more ports, look at a different, laptop thats for sure in terms of performance, well, its a pretty performant laptop. It should be with these specs. I cant imagine what the core i9 would be like, but it might have a little challenge with thermals there. You know how intel 45 watt cpus are, especially when you start piling on the cores and stuff like that, but our core i7, typically for productivity work for doing adobe, premiere, photoshop zoom, calls easy sure. Uh the temperatures for the cores were just fine. Typically, in the 50s centigrade, 100 is the maximum so headroom. Yes, we have had room there if youre pushing it hard in games, it will thermal throttle but then again so well gaming laptops.

But this is not a purpose built gaming laptop. You can, and you can see footage of apex legends playing at high 1080p and it does just absolutely great. It can go faster than the 60 hertz refresh of the display, so yeah and the throttling on it isnt that bad considering but the surface temperatures arent too too bad either. But you will hear the fans, in fact, on this laptop youll, hear the fans even doing productivity sort of work occasionally so nothing super loud and egregious, but these days people care more about that because were all doing video conferencing and all that sort of thing so Be mindful, you may hear the fans coming on and theyre the typical kind of sound not screaming, but the sound will be there. Obviously, a headset could help with that isolating you from the laptops sound to get inside its not too hard. Torx t5 screws just be mindful the ones the four in the front are shorter kind of typical laptop screws and the ones in the back are like. I havent seen a laptop screw this long in a while. So you put them back in the right place when youre done after you unscrew that maybe be sure to pull out the pen because it can catch on the pen that slides into the silo theres our metal cover decent amount of ventilation. Theres some speaker holes right. There thats the underside of the cover and here are internals, which, for a machine of this class and size again im a little disappointed.

The ram slots are gone now. This is where they used to be, and then well now, theres just ram chip solder on board. So ram is not upgradable, get it with 16 gigs and youre going to have 16 gigs for the life of the machine. We have our m.2 ssd slot right here. We have a one terabyte fast ssd in ours, cooling system, obviously fan for cpu and gpu, and our heat sinks over here and average size for a convertible on the powerful side, obviously not as big and beefy as say. A gaming laptop, but this is again not meant to really be a gaming laptop battery is back here and two of the speaker. Drivers that fire downward are here yours and, of course, the speakers in the soundbar as well.
