5 EASY Digital Art Finishers ⭐️ Lights, Filtar, Blur and More + MSI PS321QR review
You know when you reach the point where you’re actually finished with your artwork, but there’s still room for just a bit more magic. All artists have their own unique, finishing magic tricks and today i’m, going to share my five favorites with you. First one is rim lights for character. Illustration like this one i like to add some rim lights. Sometimes the light setting doesn’t entirely make sense for the rim lights, but this is your piece and you can do whatever you want with it. I personally think that the rim lights make the character pop more rim. Light is actually light coming from behind the character showing as a thin rim along the character’s edges that receive the light from behind. I sometimes ignore the rules a bit and just add the rim lights, where it makes the character look pretty but it’s up to you. How close to reality, you want your light setting to be next easy magic trick is a gaussian blur and not in the sense that we’re creating focus on the character by blurring out specific elements, but actually a bit of the opposite. There are two ways i like to apply: gaussian blur to my art, either to only the line art or to the entire drawing altogether here’s. What i will do with the line art first i’ll make a duplicate of all of the lineart layers. Sometimes i have more because sometimes i’m coloring, my line art on a clipping mask so make sure to get a duplicate of all of your lineart layers and then merge your duplicated layers together.
So you have one duplicate layer of your line: art then i will go to filter blur and choose gaussian blur. The amount of blur depends on your personal preference and the size of your canvas for me, and i work at around 3 500 pixels in the height it’s, usually around 10.. You can see on the preview here how much i am blurring the lineart. Then i go and set the new blurry liner layers, blending mode to overlay and lower the opacity to just around 75 Posto, and this is the difference that it makes on sketch and black liner drawings. I like to sometimes use multiply blending mode instead of overlay, but it depends on the kind of look that you’re going for. The second method is to apply the gaussian blur to the whole, drawing instead of just the lineart first, i need to merge my entire drawing so make sure that you have your layers backed up somewhere Music in photoshop. You can hold down alt shift and control while hitting the key e to create a new merged layer on top of everything else. This way, i still have all of my layers below in case. I need them later, then duplicate your new merged layer. So you have two of them: now go and apply the gaussian blur on this layer. The same way that i showed you before and then play around with the blending modes. I usually land on overlay again and lower the opacity to around 20 Posto.
This adds saturation to the entire drawing along with a bit of that. Blurry effect here is the before and the after. The next one is like adding a filter to your drawing, but instead of a single color or gradient we’re using a gradient map shortly. A gradient map is a more complex gradient, which replaces your values with the colors you select in your gradient. In this example, i have turned my character into grayscale, so you can better see the effect happening. Then i add a gradient map as a clipping mask to my character. Just so. The effect only appears on my character in photoshop. There are a lot of pre defined gradients and they’re. All customizable gradient maps are by the way, not exclusive to photoshop and a lot of other drawing programs have them in some sort of sense. I select a gradient and add some more color points, so you can really see the effect happening. I want the shadow values on my character to be more purple and my highlights to be more blue, zatim, here in the middle, i want to add a random color for the mid tones and that’s going to be red again just so, you really can see the Effect happening you can see now that the gradient map is applying its colors from black to white. On my drawing, if you’re drawing for any reason, does not contain all values from white to black, you might not be able to see all the colors that you picked, but then you can always adjust these sliders.
Onda. What i like to do is to add a blending mode to this gradient map and lower the opacity like we did with the gaussian blur layers before it’s, just a fun way to add more color variation into your drawing and colors too, that you might not have Thought would be working well with your drawing, so this is also a cool way to figure out new color schemes or just adding a dash of extra color or highlights, or whatever you want to use it for on your finished drawing Music and before we move on I’D, like to thank today’s sponsor who is msi a month time ago, i did an unboxing of my new 32 palac, msi monitor and today i’m, going to share sort of like a mini review on it. All my thoughts are for having used it for over a month now and as some of you know, i recently moved to a new office room and i only brought the msi monitor with me. Among other of my items, naravno, but in terms of monitors that’s, the only thing that i brought with me it’s hooked up to my laptop and it looks really cool with my entire setup being unified on the msi. Now and all these led light effects looks super awesome at first. I thought it would be a problem actually to sit this close to such a huge screen, but i got used to it after just a few days and now i’m, just enjoying all the extra space that i have to work on on screen.
To sum up, the msi ps321qr is a monitor in msi’s content. Creator series. The stand is ergonomically designed, so you can raise and lower the monitor’s position as well as tilt it. So you can sit comfortable and work. You can enjoy up to 165 hertz and one milliseconds response time. I didn’t think that the rapid ips would be noticeably visible compared to my old monitor, but i noticed it immediately when i tapped the windows icon for the first time and i can’t even show you because my camera only records in 60 fps so it’s, probably not The same effect for you guys as it is for me, but i tell you it’s fast. The resolution is a wide quad high definition at 2560 od strane 1440 and it captures 99 of the adobe rgb color spectrum. It comes with a magnetic attachable, monitor hood that helps blocking out light so that you can perceive the colors more accurately and of course, it also comes with a usb hop on the side, as well as an sd card reader and a jack for your headphones i’ve. Osobno, been really happy with this monitor, i did do some additional color calibration on it to my personal preference, even though it’s actually pre calibrated after industry standards. For you, i just have my own preferences and it was super nice that it was very easy to just calibrate it to my liking. So all in all, if you like big monitors and you don’t – need a 4k resolution but want a great monitor for content creation.
As well as gaming, i can really recommend checking out the ps321qr from msi thanks a lot to msi for sponsoring this video and for supporting my channel let’s move on with the video guys. The next little magic finishing trick is adding some noise to your drawing because that’s a fast and efficient way to achieve some extra texture to an otherwise very smooth surface. How you add the noise depends on your drawing program specifically, but i’ll show you how to do it in photoshop. I start by making a merged version of all of my layers, and then i duplicate it now for this particular example, i don’t want to add noise to my background so i’m, going to find my liner layer down here, pick the magic wand tool and select all Of the areas outside of the character then i’m going to invert the selection, and now i have an active selection of my character, silhouette and now click on the mask down here, so that everything that i do on this layer will only show up inside the selected Area, if you want to, na primjer., only add noise to certain areas in your piece, na primjer., the hair make a selection of just the hair or those areas. Then i go to filter noise and add noise. You can choose the amount of noise here. I like to preview the noise from afar and from close up as well just to get an idea of how much noise i’m actually adding.
You can either play with the blending modes or the opacity or just leave it as it is. The noise is going to add a nice contrast to the smooth surfaces in your piece. The next and final one is an actual blur and focus effect trick. It works especially well on portraits, but i use it on all sorts of illustrations to either create focus or emphasize movement on portraits. You want to create sorter like a lens blur effect. You know like when you want to take a picture of someone and the person is in focus, but the background is blurred. You can either use gaussian blur for this one too, but photoshop also have an actual lens blur effect, so make a selection of your character’s silhouette once again, but this time don’t invert, the selection. We just want to apply the lens blur effect to the background, either go to folder blur and gaussian blur or lens blur, whichever you prefer i’m going to go with lens blur just so that you can see how it looks. I honestly don’t know what all of these sliders do. Ja sam., not that technical. I only adjust this one called radius, but these other sliders can probably do lots of exciting stuff too so just play around with it that really brought our character into focus Music, Music and, as a last thing, you can sharpen up the features inside the face to Really emphasize the focus effect make a rough selection of all the features in the character’s face and feather the selection like before by the way i’m working on a merged layer.
Ovdje, it’s very important that you have all of your graphics on the same layer. For this here’s, how i feathered the selection, then right click and make a copy of the selection to a new layer. So now you have like a layer with just your selection it’s like a creepy little floating face, but that’s. What we’re going to use now go to filter other and choose high pass. This amount here will also depend on the size of your canvas, and the best thing to do is experiment a little, but i like to leave it sort of like this. You can kind of see the sharp edges now set the layer to overlay and when i click it on and off, you can see the difference in sharpness on the face. Alright guys, i hope my finishing tips and tricks were helpful and inspired you to try something new. If you have a killer, finisher share it in the comments below. I will select one and pin the comment for everyone else to see. If you want me to continue making videos in the future like this video, so i can kick the algorithm in the butt comment for super ultimate support and even share this video for super ultra mega cool ringling. Ding dong supporting my work until next time.
