Design and Specifications
The Lenovo Tab P12 has recently been released in the United States, and it comes with an interesting addition – a pin. The tablet is available in different versions, with the base model starting at $349. The version I purchased costs $379 and comes with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. However, the storage options can be a bit confusing, as there are two models with 128 GB of storage, but one has 4 GB of RAM while the other has 8 GB.
Display and Refresh Rate
The Lenovo Tab P12 features a 12.7-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1840 by 2944 pixels. It has a 16:10 aspect ratio, which provides a widescreen viewing experience. However, it’s important to note that the refresh rate is limited to 60 Hz, which might be a downside for some users who prefer a higher refresh rate for smoother visuals.
Performance and Audio
Powering the Lenovo Tab P12 is a MediaTek Dimensity 750 processor. This processor ensures smooth performance, enabling users to multitask and run demanding applications without any lag. One standout feature of this tablet is its quad-speaker setup, with two JBL speakers on each side. The tablet also supports Dolby Atmos, delivering immersive audio that enhances the overall entertainment experience.
Included Accessories
When unboxing the Lenovo Tab P12, you’ll find a few accessories included in the package. The tablet comes with a wall adapter and a USB-C to USB-A charging cable. It’s worth noting that the charging capability is limited to 20 W, which might be slightly disappointing for users who expected a faster charging speed. Additionally, the package includes a quick start guide, safety and warranty information, a quick start guide specifically for the Tab Pin Plus, a removal tool, and an extra tip for the pin.
The Tab Pin Plus
The pin included with the Lenovo Tab P12 is quite interesting. It bears resemblance to the Precision Pin 3 but comes with a USB-C charging port on the side. This makes it convenient to charge the pin, as you simply need to turn the tip to reveal the charging port. The pin provides a smooth and accurate writing experience, ideal for note-taking or sketching on the tablet’s responsive display.
Overall, the Lenovo Tab P12 offers a decent package with its powerful performance, immersive audio, and included accessories. However, some users might find the limited refresh rate and charging capability to be drawbacks. Despite these minor limitations, the tablet provides a great user experience and is worth considering for those in need of a reliable and versatile device.
The Design
When unboxing the NEW Lenovo Tab P12 (2023), you immediately notice a step up in design compared to its predecessors. The back of the tablet features a Precision pin, which seems to be a strong magnet. This tablet is larger than most other Lenovo tablets, but it compensates for its size by being incredibly thin and lightweight. However, one downside is that the pin does not appear to charge when attached to the back of the tablet. Charging is only possible by using the USB-C port located on the top of the device.
On the sides of the tablet, you’ll find the power button, micro SD card tray, and volume buttons. The charging port is situated at the bottom, while the tablet also houses two speakers on each side. Unlike Samsung tablets, it doesn’t appear that the pin can be attached to the side of the Lenovo Tab P12, unless you do it near the Pogo pins.
Setting up and Security Features
During the setup process, users have the option to choose between password, fingerprint, and Face Unlock for added security. One interesting feature is that the fingerprint scanner is conveniently located on the power button. It may initially go unnoticed due to its seamless integration into the overall design of the power button. Setting up the tablet is a straightforward process, and it appears to have gesture navigation enabled by default, though virtual navigation with three buttons is also available.
Display and Software
The screen on the Lenovo Tab P12 boasts impressive visuals. The wallpaper evokes a sense of familiarity with its resemblance to the Galaxy Tab S7 series. The software is Android 13, delivering an updated experience compared to previous Lenovo tablets. The user interface appears to have undergone a notable revamp, as the layout looks distinct from its predecessors.
Design and Features
The new Lenovo Tab P12, released in 2023, offers a sleek design that rivals popular tablet models like the iPad and Xiaomi. The device comes with a user-friendly interface, with notifications conveniently located on one side, and volume and brightness sliders on the other. The tablet also includes a software update option, allowing users to easily stay up to date with the latest improvements.
Software and Updates
At present, the Lenovo Tab P12 operates on Android 13. However, the company has promised users that they can expect upgrades to Android 14 and 15 in the future. Additionally, Lenovo extends its commitment to security by providing four years of security updates until 2027.
Stylus Functionality
One notable feature of the Lenovo Tab P12 is its stylus functionality. Although the stylus does not work right out of the box, users can easily connect it through the Bluetooth settings. The stylus offers various functions, including the ability to write on the tablet and have it automatically turned into text. Additionally, the stylus button enables users to control the tablet for tasks such as playing music, watching videos, or taking photos.
Convenient Features
Lenovo has included several convenient features in the Tab P12. These features include popup notes, quick notes, handwriting-to-text conversion, and the ability to switch between paint and eraser by double tapping. The stylus itself has undergone a redesign, with shortcuts now appearing in a more modern format. Users can enjoy remote control functionality when using the camera or viewing a slideshow. Additionally, a magnifying glass feature is available, which functions similarly to a laser pen.
With its advanced features, sleek design, and commitment to software updates, the Lenovo Tab P12 is a compelling option for tablet users seeking a versatile and modern device. Whether it’s for productivity or entertainment purposes, this tablet offers a range of features and functionalities to enhance the user experience.

With its advanced features and easy-to-use interface, this camera app is perfect for photography enthusiasts and casual users alike. Furthermore, users can also test out the compatibility of the Precision Pin 3. Unfortunately, it seems that connecting the Precision Pin 3 to the tablet is not possible through Bluetooth or the back of the tablet. Further investigation is required to determine if there are any alternative methods of connectivity.
Google Entertainment Space
An exciting addition to the Lenovo Tab P12 (2023) is the Google entertainment space. This feature provides users with a wide range of options for entertainment, including movies, games, books, and music. Battery Life
Unfortunately, the battery life of the Lenovo Tab P12 was a bit disappointing. With its 10200 milliamp battery, we expected longer usage time. In terms of performance, the Lenovo Tab P12 does not disappoint. It is equipped with a powerful processor, providing smooth and lag-free performance. The tablet also features fast charging capabilities, with up to 30 W fast charging support. Battery Life
In my battery drain test, I mean that is usually what most iPads like last, but typically those have a little brighter display versus this tablet, so yeah its definitely below average for battery life Im, not sure if its because of the processor, but hopefully that gets a Little more efficient as time goes on, or maybe there was something going on that I dont know about Ill, probably run the test again, just to make sure.
Performance and Geekbench Scores
Now performance wise. As far as geekbench scores. It was 966 for single core 2428 for multicore and then 2395 for GPU score. I dont think its too far off from what I was expecting, probably somewhat comparable to the Galaxy Tab: S9 Fe, but just playing games like Asphalt, 9 and pubg Mobile new state. It actually seemed to be pretty smooth.
Gaming Experience
I think most people will enjoy playing games on here, even though this doesnt have Flagship, specs or is considered a gaming tablet. The good thing is having two speakers on each side plus Toby atos. This Tabet sounds really good, whether youre watching movies playing games or listening to some music but yeah.
Camera Features
These are nice and Music Loud Fade Away. Youve got an 8 megapixel wide angle lens there on the back 13 megapixel Ultra wide on the front. As far as the camera app goes, youve got AI scan camera video Central portrait, itll shoot up to 1080p resolution for video recording, shutter speed seems to be fairly quick here.
